CMS recently instructed its administrative contractors to expand coverage for colorectal cancer screenings.

CMS issued the request on March 20, instructing that all coinsurance and deductibles should be waived for several types of screenings beginning July 1.

This includes screening CT colonographies, a form of CT-based colorectal cancer screening. CMS is also requiring contactors to remove stool-based language from policy to allow for coverage of all noninvasive CRC screening tests.

Contractors will also be required to add Cologuard Plus screening coverage.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
