CMS granted a new technology add-on payment for single-use duodenoscopes, according to an Aug. 2 news release.
Beginning Oct. 1, CMS will provide hospitals with additional device reimbursement when a single-use duodenoscope is used for eligible cases of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures in the hospital inpatient setting.
The add-on is applicable to Boston Scientific's Exalt Model D Single-Use Duodenoscope, a device designed to eliminate infections caused by ineffective reprocessing of reusable duodenoscopes.
The Exalt Model D Single-Use Duodenoscope was granted transitional pass-through payment by CMS in 2020, allowing for incremental device reimbursement for cases performed in the hospital outpatient setting.
