Boston Scientific, Takeda Pharmaceuticals & more — 5 GI companies making waves this week

Here are updates on GI companies to note.

Corporate Knights included Japan's Takeda Pharmaceuticals as one of its 2017 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index. To earn the distinction, Corporate Knights measured Takeda's performance on a 14-key performance indicator scale including categories like energy productivity, innovation capacity and safety performance.

Israel-based Check-Cap enrolled its first patient in a multi-center study as it works to earn a CE Mark for its C-Scan system. The C-Scan system uses ultra-low dose X-ray technology in an ingestible capsule to map the colon for polyps and abnormalities.

Marlborough, Mass.-based Boston Scientific; Austin, Texas-based Apollo Endosurgery; and Raynham, Mass.-based EndoEvolution are among key companies operating in the global automated suturing devices market. The increase of minimally invasive procedures is fueling market growth.
