Here are three key notes:

1. The system is intended to help physicians manage two complications from pancreatitis using a minimally invasive endoscopic approach — pancreatic pseudocysts and certain types of walled-off pancreatic necrosis.

2. Under endoscopic ultrasound guidance, a physician can use the AXIOS System electrocautery-enhanced catheter to gain access to the pancreatic fluid collections and deploy the AXIOS stent which facilitates drainage.

3. The stent is MRI-compatible, fully covered and self-expanding, and it is the only removable metal stent in the United States indicated for pancreatic fluid collection drainage.
