St. Louis-based Barnes-Jewish Hospital named Matthew Mutch, MD, the Solon and Bettie Gershman Chair in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Here's what you should know.
1. Dr. Mutch is also Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis' chair of colon and rectal surgery.
2. Dr. Mutch is replacing Ira Kodner, MD. Dr. Kodner was the first colon and rectal surgery chief.
3. With the university since 2002, Dr. Mutch served as the colon and rectal surgery fellowship program director from 2007 to 2016.
4. Dr. Mutch is an avid researcher publishing approximately 59 peer-reviewed articles.
