ASGE recognizes Chicago gastroenterologist for quality: 4 insights

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recognized Darrien Gaston, MD, and his practice, Chicago-based Metropolitan Gastroenterology Consultants, for quality through its endoscopy unit recognition program, the Beverly Review reported.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Gaston and his practice:

1. Dr. Gaston opened the practice in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood 19 years ago.

2. At his practice, he performs non-surgical weight-loss procedures like the Orbera Managed Weight Loss System, as well as colonoscopies, hemorrhoid banding and video capsule endoscopy.

3. Dr. Gaston was also designated as a Premium Care Physician for 2018 by United Healthcare.

4. Dr. Gaston earned his medical degree from the Chicago-based University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Chicago-based St. Joseph Hospital, and his gastroenterology fellowship at Cook County Hospital. He is board-certified in gastroenterology.
