ASGE names Douglas Rex president

The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy has named Douglas Rex, MD, as 2021-22 president, according to a post by the ASGE.

Dr. Rex is a professor of medicine and the director of endoscopy in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Carmel-based Indiana University Medical Center.

He has served as treasurer and editor-in-chief of Journal Scan and is the recipient of the Master Endoscopist Award and the Rudolf V. Schindler Award, the post said.

His past work includes co-authoring the 2000 colorectal cancer screening recommendations of the American College of Gastroenterology and serving as president of the ACG.

He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
