American Cancer Society honors 2 GI surgeons

The American Cancer Society has honored two GI/endoscopy surgeons at its 35th Annual Diamond Ball on Nov. 15, according to an nj.com report.

Andrew Gumbs, MD, and Tamir Ben-Menachem, MD, MS, were chosen as 2014 Medical Honorees for compassionate, expert surgical care, according to the report.

Dr. Gumbs is director of the Minimally Invasive Hepatic-Pancreatic-Biliary Surgery program at Summit Medical Group in Berkley Heights, N.J.

Dr. Ben-Menachem is also a member of Summit Medical Group and the former director of gastrointestinal endoscopy at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
