American Association of Physicians elects Dr. Arun Sanyal: 4 things to know

The American Association of Physicians elected gastroenterologist Arun Sanyal, MD, to its ranks, according to an India West report.

Here are four things to know:

1. Dr. Sanyal is a professor of internal medicine and gastroenterology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond.

2. Dr. Sanyal’s clinical interests include liver disease and liver transplant.

3. His research interests center on portal hypertension; iron and calcium absorption from intestine; and bile acid absorption and its regulation.

4. He has been in practice for more than 20 years.
