Allegheny Health Network partners with stool bank for C. diff treatment

Allegheny Health Network, based in Pittsburgh, has partnered with the stool bank OpenBiome in Cambridge, Mass., according to a Trib Live report.

The stool bank provides Food and Drug Administration-approved samples for fecal microbiota transplantation. Allegheny Health Network will now have access to frozen, cultured and screened samples for use in Clostridium difficile treatment.

Allegheny Health Network is one of 460 medical centers working with OpenBiome, according to the report.
