AGA Research Foundation names Dr. David Boone researcher of the month — 4 things to know

The American Gastroenterological Association Research Foundation named David Boone, PhD, its researcher of the month.

Here are four things to know about him:

1. Dr. Boone is a 2017 AGA-Pfizer Young Investigator Pilot Research Award recipient for his work regarding inflammatory bowel disease.

2. He is a South Bend-based Indiana University School of Medicine associate professor of microbiology and immunology.

3. Dr. Boone is working to understand how JAK inhibitors work on a cellular level to develop new approaches to treating IBD.

4. In addition to his lab work, he supports patients with IBD through the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Camp Oasis, where he serves as a camp counselor.
