AGA: May 21 Final Day for GI Physicians to Share Thoughts on Medicare Pay Cut

Today, May 21, is the last day for gastroenterologists and other specialists to share their thoughts on what they have done to address the pending 21.3 percent pay cut to the physician fee schedule proposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, according to the American Gastroenterological Association.

The pay cut is scheduled to take effect on June 1, barring any Congressional intervention. According to the AGA, physicians have faced these cuts nine times in the last seven years.

The AGA, working with the American Medical Association and other state and specialty societies, are collect data on what physicians are currently doing to address the Medicare cuts. Data will be used in advocacy efforts to reform Medicare’s current physician payment formula.
