AGA launches patient app aimed at IBD monitoring, education — 3 insights

The American Gastroenterological Association launched My IBD Manager, an application for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Here's what you should know:

1. The AGA is also launching an online web portal for physicians called Ask AGA: IBD.

2. The app and the platform will collectively share information to enhance the provider/patient relationship.

3. Specifically, patients will be able to use the app to learn about the IBD, monitor disease progress and share information with their provider, which is accessible through web portal.

AGA Medical Advisor James Lord, MD, PhD, said, "Understanding and monitoring symptoms is a significant challenge, and people living with IBD are often faced with an over-abundance of resources. Our goal is to support patients in better understanding their IBD symptoms, and in communicating the full scope of their experiences with their health care providers."
