AGA joins 'Let My Doctor Decide' to fight step therapy

The American Gastroenterological Association joined the "Let My Doctor Decide" campaign this month to help raise awareness of step therapy, or the practice of prescribing the most cost-efficient therapy that may not be the most effective for the patient.

Three things to know:

1. Let My Doctor Decide is working on solutions to prevent step therapy and helping patients overcome the challenges of not having access to the most effective therapies possible.

2. A bipartisan bill, HR 2279, the Safe Step Act, was introduced in Congress to address the challenges associated with step therapy.

3. Let My Doctor Decide is composed of patient advocacy and provider groups, including the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association, International Foundation for Autoimmune and Autoinflammatory Arthritis and the Lupus Foundation of America, among others.
