Dr. El-Zaatari, of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, conducts research on the role of myeloid cells in the transition from chronic inflammation to gastric pre-neoplasia.
Beginning in July, the grant will endow him with $90,000 per year for three years to support his research.
The AGA and GCF first partnered in 2013. The two organizations have created a $2.25 million endowment to fund research.
