AGA awards student research fellowship to UPenn's Rani Richardson: 3 highlights

Rani Richardson has been named the 2016 American Gastroenterological Association Investing in the Future Student Research Fellowship Award recipient.

Here are three things to know about Ms. Richardson:

1. She is a student at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

2. She is pursuing a career as a physician scientist, in which she hopes to integrate molecular and life sciences.

3. She plans to use this research award to study the molecular basis of gastrointestinal diseases, with a focus on cytoskeletal intermediate filament proteins that are expressed in digestive-type epithelia.
