A gastroenterology leader to know: Dr. Estella Alonso of Lurie Children’s Hospital

Estella M. Alonso, MD, is medical director of the Siragusa Transplantation Center at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

At Lurie Children’s, Dr. Alonso also is the executive leader of the ambulatory leadership committee and associate chair of clinical services for the pediatrics department. Her clinical practice focuses on treating liver disease and helping children after they’ve had a liver transplant.

Dr. Alonso also conducts research on health outcomes after liver transplantation, as well as acute liver failure.
