Chicago-based WovenX Health has built a GI procedure partner network spanning all 50 states and Washington, D.C., to support a national colorectal cancer screening navigation program, according to a Sept. 30 news release.
The program, which begins next month, will help patients who receive a positive stool-based screening result get a follow-up colonoscopy on a prioritized basis. Patients who opt in complete an intake through WovenX’s Fast Track pathway and choose a participating GI provider in their area. The intake collects information on procedural readiness so the receiving practice can move to scheduling. The first phase focuses on patients who started their own stool-based tests and may need help finding a provider after a positive result.
Joining the network is free for GI groups and health systems. Participating providers commit to prioritizing follow-up colonoscopy scheduling and get access to patients’ pre-procedural intake information through WovenX’s platform.
The launch comes as follow-up rates remain low. A 2023 study in JAMA Network Open of more than 32,000 patients across 39 U.S. health care organizations found that only 51.4% completed a colonoscopy within 180 days of a positive stool-based result. Starting in 2027, NCQA will score health plans on follow-up colonoscopy after a positive noninvasive screening test through a new HEDIS measure.
