5 things to know about Canton-Postdam’s new gastroenterologist Dr. Chinyere Nwosu

Gastroenterologist and hepatologist Chinyere M. Nwosu, DO, joined Canton-Postdam (N.Y.) Hospital, North Country Now reported.

Here are five facts to know about Dr. Nwosu:

1. Dr. Nwosu specializes in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, including hepatitis C, autoimmune disorders of the liver and cirrhosis

2. She received her medical degree from the Old Westbury, N.Y.-based New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.

3. Dr. Nwosu completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Hospital.

4. She volunteered with the Ngwa Health Foundation from 2008 to 2014, mentoring high school students interested in medicine and raising money to provide clean drinking water and academic scholarships to students in rural Nigeria.

5. Dr. Nwosu is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.
