The American Board of Internal Medicine is making a number of changes to its Maintenance of Certification program, according to an ABIM report.
The changes include:
• Immediate suspension of the practice assessment, patient voice and patient safety requirements for at least two years
• Updating language on its website describing MOC status from "meeting MOC requirements" to "participating in MOC"
• Updates to the internal medicine MOC exam, which will be reflected by the fall of this year
• Enrollment fees to hold steady at 2014 rates or below until at least 2017
• Increasing flexibility in the ways internists can exhibit self-assessment of medical knowledge
