5 insights into new University Gastroenterology President Dr. Eric Berthiaume

Eric Berthiaume, MD, was named Providence, R.I.-based University Gastroenterology's president.

Five things to know:

1. Dr. Berthiaume bringsnearly 20 years of medical experience to University Gastroenterology.

2. He earned his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completed a residency at Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and a fellowship at Providence-based Brown Medical School/Rhode Island Hospital.

3. Dr. Berthiaume also consults at Warwick, R.I.-based Kent County Memorial Hospital and at Providence-based Roger Williams Medical Center.

4. In his new role, Dr. Berthiaume will oversee operations at University Gastroenterology's three locations.

5. He said, "I am deeply honored to have been selected for this important role at University Gastroenterology. As part of my new role, I will work closely with other University Gastroenterology physicians to strategize on novel, and effective ways to improve patient care in the most cost-effective manner."
