1. On a scale of one to seven, with seven being the most severe, gastroenterologists are experiencing a burnout rating of 4.27.
2. In 2016, 46 percent of male physicians report burnout, while 55 percent of female physicians report the same.
3. The top five causes of physician burnout are:
• Too many bureaucratic tasks
• Spending too many hours at work
• Increasing computerization of practice
• Income not high enough
• Feeling like just a cog in a wheel
