4 GIs stump to close the colonoscopy loophole — 3 insights

Four Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine gastroenterologists met with a representative of Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, to advocate for National Institutes of Health funding, Patient's Voice Act restoration and to close the colonoscopy loophole.

1. Avi Ketwaroo, MD, Yamini Natarajan, MD, Richard Robbins, MD, and Richa Shukla, MD along with Section Administrator Ramanveer Virk, MBA, met with Mr. Cornyn's Southeast Texas Regional Director Jay Guerrero.

2. The group highlighted step therapy and the barriers it creates for physicians as well as the colonoscopy loophole, a measure which causes patients to pay for screening colonoscopies when they become diagnostic.

3. Mr. Guerrero said he'd relay the information to Mr. Cornyn.
