Administrators in practices with 26 or more physicians had a median total compensation of $146,533, a decrease of 2.8 percent from 2010, while those in the smallest practices (six or fewer physicians) reported $88,117 in median compensation.
Administrators certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives had greater median compensation than those who did not have ACMPE certification. Fellows and certified ACMPE members earned $146,365 and $127,025 in median compensation last year, respectively. Practice administrators without ACMPE affiliation earned $116,481 on average.
