Cam Patterson, MD, chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, is stepping down as leader of the academic health sciences university.
Dr. Patterson, a cardiologist by trade, began his chancellorship in June 2018. He will also transition to professor in the college of medicine’s division of cardiovascular medicine at UAMS, according to a June 10 news release.
The release also cited “medical and personal issues that need more attention” as reasons for the move.
University president Jay Silveria will name an interim chancellor in the coming weeks while the system looks for a permanent successor.
Prior to Dr. Patterson’s time at UAMS, he served as COO of New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Komansky Children’s Hospital in New York City.
