Traveling cardiologist Aman Patel, MD, was arrested on multiple rape and sex offense charges, according to a March 11 report from ABC affiliate WMDT.
An employee who was working at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, Md., alleges that Dr. Patel would frequently kiss her without consent, behavior that eventually escalated to touching her without consent.
A second victim working at the hospital claimed that Dr. Patel would kiss, inappropriately touch and pull her hair without consent, while a third alleged that Dr. Patel would kiss and grope her nonconsensually and exposed himself to her.
Dr. Patel was scheduled for a hearing with the Maryland Board of Physicians after admitting to having had sexual contact with various other female staff members.
Dr. Patel has a primary residence in Texas but travels to various states as a contracted cardiologist. Maryland suspended his medical license, and multiple states have since followed suit, according to the report.
He has been charged with first- and second-degree rape, eight counts of fourth-degree sex offense, six counts of second-degree assault, two counts of false imprisonment and three counts of harassment.
