Patients in the U.S. have to wait an average of 32.7 days to see a cardiologist, according to a recent report from AMN Healthcare.
The wait time is an increase of 23% since 2022, when the average wait time was 26.6 days. In 2004, the average wait time to see a cardiologist was 18.8 days. The current average is 74% higher in 2025 than it was in 2004.
The report, “2025 Survey of Physician Appointment Wait Times and Medicare and Medicaid Acceptance Rates,” collected data from nearly 1,400 physician practices and offices in January and February 2025.
Demand for cardiologists and cardiology care have increased due to the aging of the U.S. population. Between 2012 and 2030, heart failure prevalence in the U.S. is projected to increase 46%.
