Healthgrades published its “Specialty Excellence 2027 Awards,” recognizing hospitals for their patient outcomes across 19 specialties, including cardiac surgery.
New York has nine hospitals included in the list, the most of any state. Florida has seven hospitals on the list, followed by Pennsylvania with six hospitals.
The awards measure hospitals’ performance using Medicare inpatient data from 2023 to 2025 for 31 conditions and procedures. To be ranked, a hospital must have no one-star ratings and at least one five-star rating in the cohort being measured. Read more on the methodology here.
