Carrollton, Ga.-based Tanner Health has introduced transcatheter aortic valve replacement at Tanner Heart Care, giving patients in west Georgia and east Alabama a less invasive option for treating severe aortic stenosis.

TAVR replaces the heart’s narrowed aortic valve without open-heart surgery by inserting a new valve through a catheter, typically in the leg. The procedure allows for smaller incisions, less discomfort and faster recovery, with most patients returning home within a few days, according to a Sept. 30 system news release.

Initially offered to high-risk patients, TAVR is now available to those at intermediate or low surgical risk.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
