The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions has named J. Dawn Abbott, MD, as president for 2026–27.
According to an April 25 news release shared with Becker’s, Dr. Abbott assumed the role during SCAI 2026 Scientific Sessions, held April 23–25 in Montreal, Canada.
She serves as professor of medicine and director of interventional cardiology and the cardiac catheterization laboratories at Brown University Health Cardiovascular Institute in East Greenwich, R.I.. She has contributed to SCAI’s education and workforce strategy, including co-leading the establishment of the Interventional Cardiology Match and supporting fellowship program engagement.
Dr. Abbott has authored more than 325 peer-reviewed publications and serves as deputy editor of Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions. She previously served as chair of SCAI Scientific Sessions and was a member of the Women in Innovations Committee.
She succeeds Srihari S. Naidu, MD, MSCAI, who served as president from 2025 to 2026.
