New Brunswick, N.J.-based Saint Peter’s Healthcare System has relocated its general and vascular surgery practice to Somerset, N.J., with a father-son physician team leading the practice, ROI NJ reported April 10.
Niranjan Rao,MD vice president and chief medical officer at Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, and his son, Nakul Rao, MD, will head the Saint Peter’s Physicians Associates practice at the Somerset location. Andrew Camerota, MD, a general and thyroid surgeon, also sees patients there and at a North Brunswick location.
The elder Dr. Rao has practiced vascular surgery for 40 years and is credited with establishing Saint Peter’s as a leader in advanced vascular techniques, including atherectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, endovenous ablation and endovascular aneurysm repair.
The younger Dr. Rao is trained in FEVAR, a minimally invasive stent-based procedure used to repair complex aortic aneurysms, and leads the system’s pulmonary embolism response team, a multidisciplinary approach drawing on cardiology, pulmonology, interventional radiology and vascular surgery, according to the report.
