RWJBarnabas hospital appoints cardiologist as chief medical officer

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset (N.J.), an RWJBarnabas Health hospital, has named Anthony Altobelli III, MD, as chief medical officer. 

Dr. Altobelli is a practicing cardiologist and has been serving as interim chief medical officer at the hospital since 2024, according to a Sept. 5 news release from RWJBarnabas Health. 

In addition, Dr. Altobelli is co-director of sports cardiology of RWJBarnabas Health and a cardiology consultant at Princeton University Student Health Services.

In the role, Dr. Altobelli will oversee a number of the hospital’s departments and clinical staff, including medical affairs, regulatory compliance and performance improvement.
