Declining reimbursements, the exodus of retiring cardiologists and burnout are three of the biggest challenges facing the cardiology field, according to leaders in the industry. 

The highest-paid cardiologist in New Orleans earns $815,900, according to Medscape's salary reporter tool, which is much higher than the mean annual wage of $423,250 cardiologists make according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
