The Los Angeles-based Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai has added four new heart specialists to its department of cardiology, including interventional cardiologist Aakriti Gupta, MD; electrophysiologists Eric Braunstein, MD, and Archana Ramireddy, MD; and adult congenital cardiologist Prashanth Venkatesh, MD.

Edward Hospital has proposed a new, 96,430-square-foot medical office building in Naperville, Ill., that would replace the existing office, which was constructed in the 1970s, according to a Dec. 19 report from The Naperville Sun.

NYC Health + Hospitals and New York City-based South Brooklyn Health received $1 million in cardiology funding from the state of New York. 

Hackensack (N.J.) Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center has started enrolling patients in two cardiovascular clinical trials. The center is also using a new surgical system to improve patient accuracy. 

Sunnyside, Wash.-based Astria Health will no longer offer certain cardiology services, including invasive and interventional cardiology, due to staffing issues and rising labor costs, according to a Dec. 13 report from NBC Right Now.
