Portland, Ore.-based OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute received a $3 million philanthropic gift to support cardiovascular research and care.
The donation from Oregon tech executive Renee James, former president of Intel and founder of Ampere Computing, includes $2.5 million to establish the “Joaquin E. Cigarroa, M.D., Endowed Chair,” named for the institute’s director, and $500,000 to create the “Renee James Endowed Fund for the KCVI,” according to an April 28 system news release.
The endowed chair is intended to support leadership and long-term advancement of cardiovascular programs, while the fund will provide ongoing resources for research and clinical innovation.
The investment will help expand efforts across patient care, education and research within the cardiovascular institute, according to the release.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
