John Charpie, MD, PhD, director of pediatric cardiology at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, has been named chair of the Heart of Ann Arbor’s 2025 Heart Ball campaign by the American Heart Association, the organization announced in a July 22 release.

Dr. Charpie will lead fundraising and awareness efforts supporting the AHA’s mission of improving cardiovascular health and advancing health equity. He has more than 30 years of experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care and has led clinical research aimed at improving outcomes for children with congenital and acquired heart disease.

The 2025 Heart Ball will be held Oct. 10 at the Jack Roth Stadium Club in Ann Arbor. The event will celebrate the AHA’s efforts to “break down barriers to health in Washtenaw County,” according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
