Children’s Mercy Kansas City acquires cardiology unit

Children’s Mercy Kansas City (Mo.), as a part of its pediatric partnership with Mercy Springfield Communities, acquired Pediatrix Cardiology of Springfield (Mo.), reported Springfield Daily Citizen July 11

Pediatrix Cardiology was divested by its parent, Pediatrix Medical Group. CMKC’s acquisition is part of its mission to maintain pediatric specialties in the region. 

The pediatric cardiology unit features two physicians, Frederick Emge, MD, and Alan Tong, MD. CMKC plans to continue expanding their pediatric specialties with an endocrinology and pediatric surgery unit.
