Providence, R.I.-based Cardiovascular Institute of New England has provided notice of a data security incident that may have impacted personal and protected health information of patients and employees.
In February 2026, the organization observed unusual activity in its email environment. An investigation revealed that some personal information may have been subject to unauthorized access, according to a July 31 news release from the Cardiovascular Institute of New England.
Information that may have been involved in the incident includes names, phone numbers, dates of birth, financial account numbers, medical information, medical diagnosis and treatment information.
The Cardiovascular Institute of New England does not have any reason to believe that there has been any identity theft, fraud or misuse of information in connection with this incident, the release said.
