American College of Cardiology bestows top leadership award

The American College of Cardiology has awarded its annual Bernadine Healy Leadership in Women’s Cardiovascular Disease award to Karol Watson, MD, professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles.

Dr. Watson has spent two decades researching how heart disease presents differently in women, and how to improve treatment for women, according to a March 9 news release. 

Dr. Watson is an attending cardiologist, director of the UCLA Women’s Cardiovascular Health Center, co-director of the UCLA program in preventive cardiology and director of the UCLA fellowship program in cardiovascular diseases.
