Alabama cardiology group suffers data breach: 6 things to know

Cardiology Associates of Mobile (Ala.) recently experienced a data breach, according to a Dec. 4 news release from data breach law firm Strauss Borrelli.

Here are six things to know:

1. The data breach may have involved the sensitive personal information of more than 1,500 individuals. 

2. Cardiology Associates detected that it was targeted in a data breach Oct. 22 and launched an investigation.

3. The investigation found that the company’s systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between Oct. 18 and Oct. 22.

4. Personal data that may have been affected includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers and passport numbers.

5. Cardiology Associates has eight locations across Alabama and Mississippi. 

6. The company filed a notice with the attorney general of Maine.
