Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center CIO John Halamka, MD, recently announced that all of the medical center’s 1,800 affiliated ambulatory care providers will request that patients “opt in for data sharing among the clinicians coordinating their care.” By opting in, the patients can consent to have their data exchanged within BIDMC and with outside clinicians.
