- Empathize with the employee. New employees may be hesitant to take risks and in the work environment, so it is important to initiate communication and action.
- Clearly outline expectations. A new employee will be relying solely on supervisors, fellow staff members and documentation for a description of responsibilities.
- Provide the appropriate software. The new hire should be given a computer logon, password and any needed hardware and software from day one.
- Focus on feedback. Check in with the new employee daily for the first several weeks to answer any questions and provide feedback.
