MedHQ's Tom Jacobs Updates ASC Professionals on Progress on LinkedIn Group

Tom Jacobs from MedHQ sent the following message to the Surgery Center Professionals LinkedIn group, which celebrated its three-year anniversary on March 16, 2012:

GROWTH REMAINS STRONG
As we approach the 1,000-member mark, we note that membership has really picked up speed: 30 percent of our members have joined in the past three months; 10 percent have joined in the past month. So, as we surpass this milestone, it may not be long before we surpass 3,000, 5,000 or more. You can do your part by encouraging your colleagues to join Surgery Center Professionals LinkedIn Group. (I've heard the 1,000-member mark is when the group really becomes more active ... so stay tuned!).

GROUP MISSION AND FOCUS
When we founded the group in 2009, we did so to create a venue for surgery center professionals who want to build professional relationships and take a proactive approach to professional or business development in this exciting industry. We have a markedly different approach than many other groups that tend to focus more on career development, job hunting or recruiting and talent acquisition ... not to say there is anything wrong with those sites! LinkedIn is a fabulous venue for such activity! Rather, by limiting this activity, we hope to have an alternate venue that can instead focus on business-to-business development and more traditional relationship development. We'll have more to say on this topic soon.

This explanation will be more frequently used in the future in the group description, the welcome message members receive after joining, and in the "Group Rules" link found at the upper right-hand corner of any page within the group. Never was this group meant to house all discussion topics of interest to surgery center professionals, and I ask members of the group to respect the lens through which the group is constructed. While some discussions threads may move off-topic from time to time, the topic of the originating post should be career related to the originating author.

We will continue to monitor overall group activity and adjust this focus as needed. Any and all suggestions are welcome!
Thank you for your interest and passion surrounding the Surgery Center Professionals Network group on LinkedIn. I hope this group continues to help you in your business and professional pursuit.
