Where in the U.S. do physicians make the most money? — 9 survey findings

The highest U.S. physician salaries can be found in the North Central and Southeast regions, according to Medscape‘s Physician Compensation Report 2018.

Medscape surveyed more than 20,000 physicians in more than 29 specialties.

Here’s how much physicians make in each U.S. region:

1. North Central: $319,000
2. Southeast: $309,000
3. Northwest: $306,000
4. South Central: $303,000
5. Great Lakes: $303,000
6. West: $299,000
7. Mid-Atlantic: $281,000
8. Southwest: $277,000
9. Northeast: $275,000

Note: West includes Alaska and Hawaii. Fee-for-service Medicare payments to physicians and other clinicians were adjusted for geographic differences in market conditions and business costs.
