Advances in minimally invasive surgeries are one of the technologies driving more procedures to the outpatient setting, according to healthcare data company Definitive Healthcare.

Four things to know about outpatient technology:

1. Minimally invasive orthopedic, heart and ear, nose and throat surgeries are the common procedures migrating to the outpatient setting.

2. The minimally invasive instrumentation market is estimated to be worth $21.47 billion by 2021.

3. Hybrid operating rooms including LED lighting, electronic tools and advanced imaging are key technologies emerging in the outpatient market.

4. EHR systems becoming more patient-focused and transferrable between practices is expected to push the value of the EHR market to $38 billion by 2025.
