Orthopedics is the No. 1 specialty at Medicare-certified multispecialty ASCs — 20 statistics

Orthopedic procedures are the most common ones performed in multispecialty ASCs, according to an Ambulatory Surgery Center Association graphic based on 2017 data from CMS.

Medicare-certified multispecialty ASCs:

1. Orthopedics: 1,922 centers
2. Other: 1,625 centers
3. Plastic surgery: 1,600 centers
4. Podiatry: 1,581 centers
5. Pain: 1,428 centers
6. Ophthalmology: 1,394 centers
7. Otolaryngology: 1,369 centers
8. OB-GYN: 1,200 centers
9. Endoscopy: 943 centers
10. Dental: 431 centers
