4 statistics on EHR use, location & more in ASCs

The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association released its second quarter 2018 Clinical and Operational Benchmarking Survey.

Here are four statistics to know:

1. Sixty percent of the ASCs that participated in the survey were multispecialty, while the remaining 40 percent were single specialty.

2. Fifty percent of ASCs surveyed use EHRs, while 50 percent did not.

3. Of the ASCs that participated in the survey, 42 percent have been open for more than 15 years, 16 percent have been open for seven to 10 years and 24 percent have been open for 11 to 15 years.
4. Fifty percent of the ASCs surveyed were in the suburban areas, 31 percent were in rural areas and 19 percent in rural areas.
