12 statistics on ASC ownership, management

Most organizations with ASCs in their portfolio own or manage fewer than 10, according to HealthCare Appraisers' "2019 ASC Valuation Survey."

HealthCare Appraisers and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association collected data from 26 respondents, including ASC management companies, investment bankers and business brokers.

ASCs under ownership

Ten or fewer: 47 percent
Eleven to 20: 13 percent
Twenty-one to 30: 7 percent
Thirty-one to 40: 0 percent
Forty-one to 50: 3 percent
More than 51: 30 percent

ASCs under management

Ten or fewer: 50 percent
Eleven to 20: 13 percent
Twenty-one to 30: 7 percent
Thirty-one to 40: 0 percent
Forty-one to 50: 7 percent
More than 51: 23 percent
