HealthCare Appraisers surveyed 15 respondents that represented more than 700 surgery centers throughout the country.
In 2017:
13 percent of respondents had between 11 and 20 ASCs under ownership
31 percent had more than 41 ASCs under ownership
40 percent acquired between one and five centers
20 percent acquired between six and 10 centers
13 percent acquired 16 or more centers
27 percent acquired no centers
In 2018:
Acquisition activity is expected to remain high
47 percent of respondents expect to acquire between one and five ASCs
20 percent plan to acquire between six and 10 ASCs
14 percent expect to acquire more than 11 ASCs
20 percent do not expect to acquire any ASCs
