10 best, worst states for nurses

Washington is the best state for nurses while Hawaii is the worst, according to personal finance site WalletHub.

In a report released May 2, WalletHub determined the best and worst states for nurses. The site compared the states across two dimensions: opportunity and competition, and work environment. Those dimensions were then evaluated using 20 metrics including average annual salary for nurses, nurses per 1,000 residents and nurse job growth.

3. New Mexico

4. Oregon

5. New Hampshire

6. Minnesota

7. Montana

8. Arizona

9. Texas

10. Wyoming

Here are the 10 worst states for nurses, according to WalletHub:

1. Hawaii

2. Oklahoma

4. Alabama

5. Mississippi

6. Louisiana
